Supervisors for applicants of the Warrant of Perit

The Periti Warranting Board invites applications from Perit warrant holders who possesses equivalent qualifications to practise as a Perit to provide supervision for candidates applying for the Perit warrant in accordance with articles 5(2)(b)(ii) and 6(2)(b)(ii) of the Act. These two articles envisage a route to professional status on the basis of a four-year academic training period, followed by two years formal professional traineeship which shall be dedicated to the consolidation of knowledge, skills, and competences required for the practice of the profession. This route is an alternative to the conventional route of five years academic training. The Candidate will be admitted to the normal one year’s professional experience under a mentor, and the examination envisaged in Art. 4 (3) (g) and (h), after the successful completion of this two-year training period. The objective of this training period will be to guarantee that the candidate has fulfilled those training tasks that the Board may prescribe, to ensure that the candidate has reached sufficient proficiency in those disciplines that are prescribed. The role of the supervisor is to ensure, over the two-year period, that the candidate is fulfilling the specific training requirements prescribed by the Board.

Engaged supervisors shall be remunerated with an Honorarium of €90 per hour inc. VAT at a capping of three (3) hours per month per student for a two-year period. The selected professional will be required to supervise a maximum four (4) students over the same period.

Eligibility criteria

The supervisor is expected to be available to visit the candidate at his place of employment during normal working hours, and must be a warranted Perit, holding a Perit Warrant for a minimum of 15 years.

Main roles and responsibilities:

  • The supervisor will be required to meet with the candidate once a month to be provided with feedback on the progress of the applicant
  • Provide the Periti Warranting Board with a progress report work at least every month
  • Perform random checks on the applicant his place of work;
  • Must at all times act professionally and carry out their responsibilities with due regard to the Periti Warranting Board’
  • The supervisor will be required to sign a declaration of impartiality and confidentiality, as well as a declaration that taking this role does not bring him/her into a conflict of interest.   A potential conflict of interest must be reported to the Warranting Board before the start of the supervision period

Selection procedures of supervisors 

Interested candidates that satisfy the eligibility criteria are requested to apply by submitting the Supervisor’s application form (attached) together with the requested documents to the Periti Warranting Board on email: warrantingboard.mpwp@gov.mt by 20.11.2023.

Submissions received will be evaluated by the Periti Warranting Board. Interviews will be held with all candidates deemed as eligible. The Periti Warranting Board retains the right to reject applications at its discretion.
